Reflecting On 2016 // Our top 20 Pleated Skirts

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

We hope you had a wonderful evening celebrating the end of 2016 while ringing in 2017. Wow, what will next year bring??? As I am reflecting on 2016, it reminds me how human we are. No matter how hard we try to keep our new year’s resolutions, somehow we never reach that benchmark.

As I was trying to decide what my goals will be in 2107, I was looking back over my last 2 years resolutions to check my progress. Most of those goals are still at the top of my list moving forward. I have added only one more to the list and removed a couple. So drum roll on my progress pleases. Presenting last years resolutions that will continue on and I added new resolutions. In red print will be my newly added goals and also comments on this year’s progress.

REPORT CARD

B- | For staying close to God.
I continue to read my daily devotional and I don’t miss too many days. I try to pray or arrow prayers daily, but so much room to grow. I just need to keep the world from interfering. Being a blogger, the world gets big and in the way, so I need to keep focused on the the one who brought me!! This has no change and still feel the same!
A  |  Continue to learn about social media as it relates to sharing my fashion/travel & lifestyle blog.
If I don’t say so myself, this 61 yr old girl has so much more knowledge on social media than any one in my age group on this subject matter. This year I have learned a little more about everything!!!I went to my first RewardStyle Conference where I met the most amazing group of ladies from all over the world that were actually in my age group. I still have seniority over them all. In October I started working on a newly designed website that now can stand up with the big girls. I am proud to unveil it through this post!! I do hope you like my new flamingo logo!! It is so SheShe!
C  | Exercise at least 3 to 4 days a week doing a mix of Pilates, yoga, weights, and different cardio activities.
Well, this is where I really fell short!! I have my list of excuses, but I really have only been exercising 2-3 days a week and lucky if I can make that happen. I will continue to try and get back on track. I still get a C here. I changed trainers this year due to a schedule conflict. I now have a young women working with me on exercises that are right for women at my age and physical shape. She is also great at advising on nutrition. I think that women understand women a lot better than men, so this was a good change for me. I get 2 to 3 days a week in. Never 4……
A-Be loving, considerate, and patient with my husband, friends, and family.
I really believe that I have been really good on this one. I guess I should ask my husband what he thinks????? Here we go…..I might have fallen back to a B or B- on this one. As my husband gets older, he has that cranky old man thing that perks its ugly head up and SheShe’s patience wears very thin. I will try hard to be more understanding.
Also, most of my family does not support me in my business. I support them when they ask me for something, but for the life of me I will never understand not supporting a family member when they beg for support. It really hurts!!!!!
B   | Spend more time with my mother in Tennessee.
I went to Tennessee by myself in June to hang out with mom. When I am by myself, I can stay with her and have some really great quality time. We went back for Thanksgiving and took her out for a nice dinner celebrating her December birthday. I will go back by myself in 2016. I can’t wait!!! I love my mom so very much and cherish every minute I can spend with her! Not much change here. I still try to get back to Tennessee a couple of times a year to spend time with her. When I made the decision to move away from my family over 35 years ago, I lost a lot of time that I could have spent with my loved ones. Unfortunately, this is true for many of us.
A-  | Finish decorating our vacation home in Colorado.
I did a very good job on this one. I would say that I am 90% done. I just ordered 2 chairs and then I just need to hang some more pictures and we will be done. The landscape went in after we left in August. Stay tuned in 2016 for the big reveal. This house is the best house I have ever designed and decorated!!  ALL DONE!!! I still have a few pictures to hang, but even the landscape and river work is done. Our gate entrance will be complete by the time we return in the spring.
A-  | Once a week clean out and reorganize one drawer or cabinet in my house. It is time to purge!!!
I have really done good on this one. I didn’t do it weekly, but in the whole, I have cleaned out a lot of cabinets and purged a lot of clothes out of my life!! Norman and I will both continue on this still much needed project! This is the third year working on this one and we are knee deep in alligators. We started a big paint and new furniture refresh about a month ago and had to remove everything out of our kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, and study cabinets. This will make you purge for sure. I would say that we get a A this year. I am giving away throwing away a ton of stuff.
A-  | Take a big trip somewhere out of the country every year!!  I get another a on this one because I took a trip to of a life time to Tanzania, Africa for a fabulous safari. I have some plans for this year, so stay tuned. They aren’t firm yet, but definitely another place on my bucket list.

SHESHE’S MOTTO
NO MATTER WHAT LIFE CHALLENGES BRING THIS YEAR, I RESOLVE TO NEVER, NEVER, EVER GIVE UP!!!!

OUTFIT DETAILS

The pleated skirt has been one of the biggest trends of 2016 and it is moving right on into spring even in the metallics. Once again think out of the box when styling a metallic skirt. I have styled my pleated skirt for a festive evening. With the white, this could definitely be worn for a winter wonderland look or for an easy breezy summer look. It would be a great cruise outfit.
