As early as I can remember pearls were considered as special. My mom and grandmother had a few pieces of pearl jewelry that they passed down to me and my sisters. I always thought about them as timeless and what great traditions they started.

As an adult, I have continued this tradition. Pearls worn 3 ways

Even though ALO Diamonds specializes in diamonds, they do offer other beautiful options like theses cultured pearls I am wearing today. This cultured pearl necklace is absolutely amazing. It is long enough to wear as a long lariat, wrap around as a choker or make it a statement for a backless dress. With a catch on one end, this necklace has so many options. What is a cultured pearl? Wikipedia says:
“A cultured pearl is a pearl created by an oyster farmer under controlled conditions. Cultured pearls can be farmed using two very different groups of bivalve mollusk: the freshwater river mussels, and the saltwater pearl oysters. A natural pearl is thus born. A Cultured Pearl is formed in the same process as a natural pearl. The only difference is that it begins by inserting a shell bead nucleus inside the oyster and irritating the oyster to produce the layers of nacre.”  Simulated pearls are NOT real as they are not formed inside an oyster.

• I was just elected to join a really cool board that is based here in Houston called Recipe for Success. It is the first time since 2005 that I have served on a board. Even though I have no time, I feel that I am called to serve. I cannot wait to learn about this non-profit organization.
