…..dress whites…my favorite color for spring…

Here, in Houston, TX, we are in the heart of Spring and even for our northern friends. The flowers are popping out around the country and if you are of my generation, you can now wear white…..It is after Easter. Well, those old rules are out the door. It is my job as a Houston Fahion blogger that I stimulate your creative fashion juices.

For the younger set, they would take this white lace dress and throw a leather moto jacket over it and add some cool over the knee boots and be the hipster of the fall/winter season.

I just might have to ditch the old rules and restyle this outfit this fall!

What is great about this dress is that it can be worn by so many generations and be appropriate. Teens, 20’s, 30’s, 40’s, 50’s, and even….yes 60’s. If you want to sass this dress up just a little or add a little understated sex appeal, then shorten the lining 3 or 4 inches. It will still be right below the knee, but will give the illusion of a shorter dress without being shorter. I just took this dress to my alterations lady to do just that.

I love the nude sandals. Just about every shoe designer out there today is doing several styles in nude. The nice thing is that nude can be worn with anything and year around if it is a pump. I would say that if you don’t have a pair of nude sandals or pumps, then it would be a must have for this seasons shoe wardrobe.

I think Nordstrom has the best all around shoe department out there. They have a variety of prices…..Next would be Dillards. Of course Neiman Marcus, Barneys and Saks Fifth Avenue among others have beautiful shoes too. Their brands are just catagorized in the luxury market price point. It really depends on what you can afford or what you are willing to spend.

I know a lot of girls that can’t afford expensive shoes, but will go in debt to have those sought after IT shoes. Do you know anyone like that? hmmmmmm. Don’t look at me…..I love shoes, but I am really a handbag crazy person.

Actually this handbag is relatively afordable. Again, it is all relative. I love Rebecca Minkoff’s classic design. It looks a lot like a Chanel bag without the exhorbitant price. I am really loving her handbags. right now.

For many of you, your calendars are filling up with graduations, spring charity events, parties and don’t Mother’s Day coming up soon. This dress is still available and would work for any of these occasions. Acutually Nordstrom matched a price from another website, so it is 25% less that what I paid for it.

Even though we are just now in the middle of spring time, many retailers are already offering friends and family sales, so stay tuned and I will keep you posted on the lastest deals.
