I get asked the “how short for your age” question on occasion and I think about hem line length a lot. I go back to the same answer every time, and that is if you are confident and comfortable with a shorter skirt or dress then by all means go for it. Now with that said, I do think we need to take several things into consideration. I believe that if you have a lot of cellulite or very fat thighs be old or young, then it is not very pretty to show, so I would suggest to choose a hemline that covers that. Many women play tennis and golf on up in to their seventies and wear shorts or short skirts. That does not bother me because there is an athletic aspect there.

This dress from White House Black Market (on sale now ) is about as short as I will go. I think the key for me wearing a shorter dress is wearing a lower heel like this cute versatile Elaine Turner wedge. Now I could throw on a pair of stilettos with this dress and it might not look bad, but I would not be comfortable and confident. So there you go….be confident about your choice. If you are not confident then you will be one unhappy camper.

Cork has been a big trend for the last couple of years in handbags and footwear. This Elaine Turner clutch is my go to little bag. It fits nicely down into a shopper tote and you can pull it out if you don’t want to lug your tote in to a restaurant or store. I carried it a lot while I was in Mexico. It went with everything.

Of course, if you haven’t noticed….I love hats and I am making my case with this J Crew Panama hat that you have seen me wear over and over. I am sure you will see it again. Psssst….great for a bad hair day!!

A couple more trends that I have not brought up this season is the tassel trend and the cuff ring trend. Tassels are everywhere. They are on earrings, handbags, zipper pulls, shoes, clothing, bracelets, rings and necklaces like this Elaine Turner Kira cork tassel necklace that I am wearing here. Luuuvvv it!!  The cuff ring is so fun and unusual. Kendra Scott has come out with several styles of the cuff ring. They are comfortable enough and very cute.

The jury is still out on the subjects of hemlines…..that being said, you decide what is right for you, just don’t let age dictate your decision.

I hope you are enjoying your weekend!!
