Denim Jacket A Closet Staple

Denim jackets go back in time before most of us were born….even me!! All of that being said, it should be a wardrobe staple. I personally am most comfortable in a casual denim look and now the denim on denim is taking center stage.

If you choose a basic style jacket, be a designer version or discount store version, it will be your friend for years to come. Don’t worry about matching your denims and in fact PLEASE don’t try to match. The only time you should match denims is if a designer designs a set that goes together, kind of like a denim suit. If you try to match them, then more than likely it will not be a standout look.

Ways to style your denim jacket:

Over a dress or skirt ( sun dress, mini dress or skirt, maxi dress or skirt )
Over culottes, shorts, colored tailored pants (black, red, blue, etc…)
Over a tunic, a graphic printed T Shirt, lace camisoles, ruffle tops, knits, bustiers and the list goes on.
Add some vintage broaches or embroidered novelty patches that fits your personalty. ( just Google patches and hundred in many categories will pop up)
Wear with a bandana neck scarf or an Hermes scarf. Throw a blanket scarf over the shoulders for a layering look.
Go for the high low look by wearing a sequin tank underneath or over sequin pants.
Wrap it around your wait over a casual sporty outfit.
Wear with stilettos, wedges, boots in any style, or sneakers.

Needless to say you can style a denim jacket to fit your every mood, occasion and personality. Make it fun and maybe create your own mixology. If you don’t have one, then make room in your closet. I have linked several great jackets below in various washes and price ranges.
