Thanksgiving Day Outfit + 5 Pumpkin Recipes

dsc_0119dsc_0080-1

SO many things to discuss today: my Thanksgiving outfit and some of my favorite pumpkin recipes. What do you normally wear to Thanksgiving dinner? I don’t know about you guys, but my family is really casual. Casual meaning jeans, sweater, puffy vests, boots, and maybe a skirt with booties. Depending on the climate where you will be on Thanksgiving, will determine what you will wear. Thank goodness temps in the south are finally ticking down so fall clothing will not look out of place. Living in Houston, TX, I always try to buy lighter weight tops and dresses in the fall but in fall colors.

Today I want to show and share with you 3 items that work great for a stylish but comfortable outfit.

  1. This leather vest, a fall piece that I purchased from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale back in August. This vest is so very versatile and can be worn in warmer climates as well as cooler climates. Right after the sale I styled this vest by wearing it over a dress  ( under $25 ) with a flutter sleeve worn off the shoulder. It was a great transition look moving into fall. You can see these photos at  www.shesheshow.com. As the weather gets cooler then layering this vest over a sweater like I have showed you here is another layering option. Try to think out of the box when styling a vest. Traditionally we always wear them over a button front blouse, but I love them worn over sweaters, t-shirts, sweatshirts, dresses as well as a tank top in the summer. It is the same as wearing a jacket but without sleeves. This leather vest is now on sale at 33% off making it under $170. By the way, it is real leather, not faux and runs a little on the roomy side. I am usually a size 6 and wearing a small here but I could have worn the XS easily. That being said a size large could fit a size 1o or 12.
  2. The other great fall look that adds high style to a look is the over the knee boot. I bought these last year during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale but I linked some boots that are very similar at the end of this post. This style elongates your legs. If this boot is not your thing then try a cute bootie. Booties are so fun this season. I especially like the florals and velvets, but a basic black or grey is always on point.
  3. Last but not least is a great cross body bag. This bag by Hammitt is great because is is not too big but yet holds all of your basic handbag needs. My large Iphone 7 even fits perfect in this adorable reversible cross body bag.

You have your outfit so now how about some really good grub…… If you don’t know by now, I don’t enjoy cooking. I can cook and pretty good at it when I apply myself, but I DO NOT LIKE TO COOK, however I luuvvvvvv to eat and I like almost everything. I enjoy all of the traditional foods and dishes associated with Thanksgiving and anything pumpkin resonates in my soul.

I found a few pumpkin recipes for those of you who love to try new things. The first 3 are of a savory fare and the other 2 are on the sweeter side. If you make any of them, then I would love to know if they make the cut for a repeat treat. I then just might get in the kitchen.

Thanksgiving is truly my favorite time of year. This year, like most years, Norman and I will be in East Tennessee celebrating with my family at one of my sisters house. They will make the turkey, dressing, gravy, rolls, ice tea and the rest of the family fills in with casseroles, veggies and desserts. We eat until we are almost sick at our stomachs. Can anyone relate?

Thanks for stopping by and let me know if you have any styling questions about what to wear on Thanksgiving. I will be checking in on you all.

SHESHE’S TIDBITS:

  • I went to Dallas last Friday for a family weekend and I stayed a couple of extra days to see friends and meet with my account manager at my affiliate company. It was so much fun, but I got so behind on everything so this blog post is a day late getting to you.  Now that I am home, I am catching up and on a diet. I literally ate my way to Dallas and back. Anyway, we are approaching another weekend and I am supposed to go to Austin, but I think I am staying at home. I can’t bear to think about getting further behind and gaining more weight.
