4 Tips: How To Wear Over The Knee Boots Over 40

dsc_0227dsc_0254dsc_0250

Hello ladies, today we are talking 4 tips on how to wear over the knee boots over 40 and pull it off. Don’t ever be afraid of your age when it comes to dressing. Only be concerned about proportions, fit and of course confidence. We can certainly wear what the younger generations are wearing with just a few tweaks.

4 Tips: How to Wear Over The Knee Boots Over 40

  1. First of all, choose the right boot for your body type. If your legs are heavier then choose a boot that has a looser shank. The real fitted shank will not make your legs look thinner, but your legs can be camouflaged with the wider tops. There are also over the knee boots that hit the back of the knee but goes over the top of the knee in the front. Those work well for a petite frame as well as a fuller figure. Way up the thigh would be a little over powering for the petite girl. As I always say…..wear what you feel good in then your confidence will come through and be a beautiful thing.
  2. Unless you have fabulous gams then don’t wear a mini dress with OTK (short for over the knee) boots exposing skin. Some over 40 ladies can do this and fewer over 50 and over 60 can. To achieve the same look try wearing opaque hose, leggings or very skinny jeans under the mini dress. Check out the first photo left to right below.
  3. It is also best to wear a top long enough to cover your bootie. Unless you are model thin, it is so much more sophisticated to cover those curves whether it is the tummy, thighs or butt. Hale Berry, in the middle photo, looks great and she certainly is over 40 and has curves.
  4. Finally, OTK boots are really stylish with a longer length skirt that has a split to mid thigh. Very little skin shows, but still gives that sexy, stylish look. Third photo to the right below is a good example of this. A maxi skirt with a side split would also work.

If you have had doubts to whether you can pull off wearing the OTK boot, then I hope that these tips will help you should you decide to step out with style. At the end of the post I have my outfit details as well as 20 very doable over the knee boots at several price points that you might consider. If you order from Nordstrom, they have free shipping and free returns. That way you can try them on and try a couple of outfits with them and decide if they feel and look right for you. dsc_0246dsc_0239-1Introducing 2 brands that I love.

  • Veggani : (in above photo) is a vegan handbag brand that believes in the protection of people, animals and the planet. First of all, looking at this bag you would never ever guess that it is made of faux fur and vegan leather. It is amazing how great these fabrications are getting better and better. The leather is actually made of recycled
  • Lauren Milmine Designs : (in photo below) Self proclaimed southern girl that has had the love for jewelry since she was a young girl. As I was reading about her I realized how much alike we are. Could she be my child? Nope, her mother was and acclaimed interior designer from Atlanta hence her exposure to an artistic upbringing around textiles. Blending all of these elements prepared her to launch Lauren Milmine Designs in 2015 after she had triplets and couldn’t go back to a full time day job. The African glass, druzy hand painted antler piece I am wearing was one of her first designs and still her favorite. Isn’t it funny that this is the piece that I selected. I still think we have the same DNA. She also has a really cool tassel earring collection that you should check out.

SHOP MY LOOK

// Furry Jacket is from SheShe’s archives, similar one here // Skinny jeans and I also like these for less // Stuart Weitzman ‘Highland’ boots that I bought last year, but are still going strong this year. Yes, they have a premium price tag but from my experience they stay in their line for a few years so you will get your money’s worth. They come in 4 nuetral colors, 4 other over the knee styles and are sooooo comfortable. //  I am loving this Lilla P tunic top. It is perfect for layering under a jacket because it covers your bootie and it has the little flounce trim along the bottom to give it that extra style. // I just happened to own these druzy earrings that match the Lauren Milmine druzy and antler necklace. Now, what do you think about these Stella McCartney sunnies?? They are called the Cat Eye…..they got that right!! I am loving large frames right now and this nude/blush color is so yummy. They aren’t for everyone but those who dare to be bold…..and have some fun with your fashion choices.
