Weekend Wanderings | 4 Beauty Tips for the New Month

The beginning of a new month gives most of us a chance to set some new goals. As November begins to set in, we’re focusing on some new beauty trends to spice up your daily routine and encourage some overall health. Before the chaos of the holiday season sets us, join us in prioritizing beauty and wellness… and get some ideas to add to that Christmas wish list. 🙂

Add Essential Oils

Though most of us don’t have this one in our repertoire, adding essential oils to your daily routine might actually be the key to healthy skin and hair. This article by the Everygirl claims that adding 30-40 drops of Rosemary oil to shampoo will make your hair thicker and shinier- and smelling amazing. Roseship Seed oil can also be used directly on your face to help with both moisture and hydration.

Try Jelly Highlighter

I know, I know…this one sounds crazy. But if you’ve seen the viral video of jelly highlighter floating around the internet, you might understand the hype. Glamour magazine just reported on this new Farsali Jelly Beam Highlighter and called it “pretty dreamy and foolproof. This highlighter keeps up an amplified wattage no matter how much you rub your skin,” which to me could not sound any better.

Blue-Based Lipstick

Don’t worry, we aren’t suggesting cobalt blue lipstick just yet. But this article in Elle Magazine focuses on lipstick choices to make our teeth like whiter, and the results might surprise you. “The best options are a blue-based pink or red,” the article states. Coral, though popular during this season, can actually make your teeth look “yellower.”

Lessen Exfoliation

Not what you expected from an article about beauty tips. Right? I know, but SELF Magazine claims that we actually might be exfoliating our skin too much. While on average women over-exfoliate, our skin only calls for full exfoliation once or twice a week. Any more than this can lead to outer-layer skin irritation, so this month let’s skip the exfoliator and treat our skin to some extra moisture instead!
