Happy New Year 2018 || My 2017 Resolution Report Card

 HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

This is the 4th year that I have shared my New Year’s resolutions and report card. As you will see most of my resolutions are the same every year with a little bit of tweaking. I have a feeling that most of my resolutions are very similar to yours.

Norman and I had a discussion that goals and punch lists are different from resolutions. So here is the definition of resolution in the dictionary.

  • A firm decision to do or not to do something.

So, yes, the following are resolutions. They are my firm decisions that I am going to do or attempt to do in 2018. So here we go on this New Years Day…..drum roll again please…..my 2017 Report Card and our 2018 New Year’s Resolutions.

Stay close to God.
Grade | B
I continue to read my daily devotional and I don’t miss too many days. I try to pray or arrow prayers daily, but so much room to grow. I just need to keep the world from interfering. Being a blogger, the world gets big and in the way, so I need to keep focused on the the one who brought me!! I have fallen back in the last few months. I am so mad at myself. I have already jumped right back in to my daily devotions. I have prayed a lot this year because of life’s obstacles. It’s funny how we tend to pray more when things are not going right. I will work at praying and praising God daily regardless of what is going on in my life.
Continue to learn about social media as it relates to sharing my fashion/travel & lifestyle blog.
Grade | A
If I don’t say so myself, this 62 yr old girl has so much more knowledge on social media than any one in my age group on this subject matter. I spent more time growing my Instagram & Pinterest platforms learning along the way. I did a fresh look on my website. Did you notice the changes? I have learned a little more about everything!!! For 2018, my goal is to focus on Facebook and Pinterest strategy. I also plan to do more YouTube videos, bring in guest contributors and cover more on the home and health issues at midlife. Let us know if there is anything else you would like us to write about.
Exercise at least 3 to 4 days a week doing a mix of Pilates, yoga, weights, and different cardio activities.
Grade |
Well, this is where I really fell short!! I have my list of excuses, but I really have only been exercising 2-3 days a week and lucky if I can make that happen. I will continue to try and get back on track. I still get a C here. Still no change … I am hell bent on adding in 2 days of tread mill for 2018 in addition of my workouts with my trainer Kat. I sit in front of the computer so much that I am in dire need of more walking.
Be loving, considerate, and patient with my husband, friends, and family.
Grade | B
I really believe that I have been really good on this one. I guess I should ask my husband what he thinks????? Here we go…..I might have fallen back to a B or B- on this one. As my husband gets older, he has that cranky old man thing that perks its ugly head up and SheShe’s patience wears very thin. I will try hard to be more understanding. This is still a growing challenge, but doing pretty good here.
Also, most of my family does not support me in my business. I support them when they ask me for something, but for the life of me I will never understand not supporting a family member when they beg for support. It really hurts!!!!! I have had many disappointments on this once again this year. It is so hard not to cuss them all out, but I keep my mouth shut and cry silently. I will try harder not to take it so personal even though it is so hard.
Spend more time with my mother in Tennessee.
Grade | A
I will go back by myself in 2017. I can’t wait!!! I love my mom so very much and cherish every minute I can spend with her!  I did go to visit my mom over Memorial Weekend. It was such a special time with her. Only 3 months later, out of the blue, she had a massive heart attack and passed away. My friends, you just never know what 2018 will bring, so don’t procrastinate spending time with your loved ones. This resolution will obviously not be on my list for 2018.
Finish decorating our vacation home in Colorado.
Grade | A
Stay tuned in 2017 for the big reveal. This house is the best house I have ever designed and decorated!!  ALL DONE!!!  All done, however, I still have not posted the reveal. You can see the bunk room by going to this post. It is really cool if I don’t say so myself. I will continue to post all of the rooms this year, so stay tuned.
Once a week clean out and reorganize one drawer or cabinet in my house. It is time to purge!!!
Grade | A-
I have really done good on this one. I didn’t do it weekly, but in the whole, I have cleaned out a lot of cabinets and purged a lot of clothes out of my life!! Norman and I will both continue on this still much needed project! This is the fourth year working on this one and we are knee deep in alligators. We started a big paint and new furniture refresh about a month ago and had to remove everything out of our kitchen, master bathroom, bedroom, and study cabinets. This will make you purge for sure. I would say that we get a A this year. I am giving away and  throwing away a ton of stuff. We continue purging….where does the stuff come from….really?? The paint and remodel is all done downstairs with the exception of finding a new chandelier in Master Bath and re-decorating my office. I will start revealing before and after photos on this project in 2018.
Take a big trip somewhere out of the country every year!!
Grade | F

Well, I get a big fat F on this one. I had a trip to India planned in October, but due to unexpected life interruptions, I had to cancel it. It is ok, I will hopefully get there some day. I don’t have any idea if I can get a big trip planned this next year. Norman doesn’t travel abroad anymore and it is hard to find someone to travel with me. I would love to go to New Zealand, Australia, Lake Como in Italy and any beach….just sayin’.

New Resolutions

I want to sell a property in Montrose, CO and  reinvest into a beachfront home.

I bought a couple of historical buildings in Montrose, CO back in 2004 as my own investment. Now, with an offer on the table on one of them at this writing, I am hopeful it will sell. After that, I want to reinvest it into a beach front home or condo on the gulf shores of Florida. I am not in a hurry, but it is my dream to die on a beach. Hard to explain, but I am a true Piscean…something about the sun, sand & sea that resonates in my soul.
Stay Close To My Tennessee Roots
With my mom and dad now gone, I will have to work a little harder to keep that connection with my sisters and their families who all still live in the East Tennessee area. After all, they will be the ones to take care of me some day. Fortunately, I will not be a financial burden on them, but I might be a pain in the you know what? Ha! Ha!!
Create & Design my own brand of fashion & lifestyle products.
I am not looking to be a big name designer, but the industry is changing and even at over 60 years old, I see opportunity to fulfill a dream, even if it is just a cell phone case or T- Shirt. Stay tuned….we will see…..
So there you have it. I am putting it out there once again and I am ok if you hold me accountable. There are so many things that I could do better and improve on, but I want to make my list achievable. We will see when we look at this list again next year at this same time. We would love to know some of your resolutions. Just leave at least one of your in the comment box below. It would be fun for us to read.
May God Bless you all in the coming year. Thanks for following the SheShe Show. We could not continue on without your support. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
