The Weekend That Never Ends

Weekends have become the much-needed reprieve from my always hectic and busy life. While I love keeping busy and having a full schedule, I definitely need the break that weekends provide. But who says we can only have fun on Saturday and Sunday? With another weekend upon us and another work week close behind it, I thought I would take some time to reflect on all the things we do on the weekends that make them such a fun and relaxing time for us and how we can carry those things into the weekdays.

Getting Out with the Girls

With the new digs getting settled on Sanibel Island, Fla., we have family and friends nearly every week. Hanging out with my girlfriends, couple friends and family is one of my favorite things to do and the new summer place gives me an excuse to do that much more often than I ever have.

There are so many new places and things to explore on this beautiful island. We have been finding new restaurants where we can grab a healthy lunch and take a walk along the beaches or through the parks (maybe even toting Miss Pippa along!)

Though the weekends are the best time for visitors, I don’t see why these activities can’t happen during the week. Getting out for a good lunch or taking a leisurely walk on the beach are some of the things I do to stretch the weekend just a little bit longer.

Workout Wednesday

One of the hardest things for us to do during the week is find time for fitness. Taking care of our bodies is so important, especially for those of us who are no longer 20. Working out regularly has countless health benefits and as Elle Woods pointed out, the endorphins don’t suck!

However, it is so easy for time to get away from us and before we know it, we’ve let the entire week go by and have neglected our physical fitness. Creating some time outside of the weekend’s to make sure we get some exercise in can drastically change our week, even if we’re just working out in our homes. One way I do that is to designate a specific day in my calendar that I absolutely can’t skip. Wednesday is my personal favorite since it is right in the middle of the week and Workout Wednesday is fun to say and in turn, more fun to participate in.

Regular Reading

In addition to physical exercise, it is also important for us to stretch our minds. Not only does reading make us smarter, it allows us to stretch our brains a bit and take a breather from the stress of the workweek. I love the chance to curl up on the couch with the pup or the hubs and dive into a good book for an hour or two.

It is so easy to get caught up in the comings and goings of our own stories but sometimes it is nice to get caught up in the comings and goings of someone else’s, especially if it’s something juicy and dramatic! Even if it’s only for twenty minutes, we can all work some fun reading into our weekly routines and break up the constant hustle we’re on.

Buying and Bingeing

If you know me at all, you know that shopping is one of my most frequent activities. I love finding new clothes and constantly updating my closet and style! However, as much as I love shopping in stores, and I do love it, sometimes I love it just as much to shop from the comfort of my living room.

There is nothing better than binge-watching the cheesy, dramatic Lifetime and Hallmark movies that make the world go ‘round with my favorite stores at my fingertips and Miss Pippa snuggled up by my side or around my neck, a la cat style. .

This has become one of my greatest lazy weekend practices but sometimes sprinkling some sparkles and secrets into my weekdays and evenings can be a great way to spice up my week!

Comfortable Clothes

Last, but arguably the most important thing about weekends is the clothes. The one thing that most separates my weekdays from my weekends is what I wear. I am a firm believer that Saturdays and Sundays were invented for leisure and that means leisurewear and athleisure outfits.

So, let’s be real. We all know the best part of our weekend attire is the option of waking up and wearing an outfit without a bra right away. Since it’s harder to get away with that during the week, I love these super comfy bras from True & Co. Their “barely there” feel makes me feel as relaxed as I do on the weekends.

I also love throwing on a pair of far less constricting pants and a loose, flowy shirt. Of course, I pair these things with a bit of the luster I love and some fun earrings. With a look like this, it is easy to go from reading or shopping on the couch to exploring the streets of Sanibel with my friends and family or taking a walk with Norman and Miss Pippa.

But why don’t we wear things like this during the week? With the right pairings, we can make even the coziest of outfits fit into those Monday through Friday days. It is totally possible to be comfortable and chic at the same time. We should all aim to pull more from our weekend looks on a regular basis and bring some leisure to our workweeks!

There you have it! These are just a few of the ways we can integrate our weekend activities into every day. Let us know what kinds of things you do to keep your weekend going past Saturday and Sunday!
