Well, here we are again and this year with so much hope for a brighter new year that will prayerfully take us back to some kind of normal! It seems like yesterday we started SheShe Show and as of today, we are 7 years old. My how time flies by. We first started with a YouTube channel New Years’ Eve 2013 but evolved into Instagram then a blog in 2014. Oh, what a journey…… I have shared my New Years’ resolutions and report card every year for a few years now. As you will see most of my resolutions are the same every year with a little bit of tweaking. Follow along as we report on our 2020 New Years’ resolutions and report card. Also what I added to my list for 2021.

MY 2020 REPORT CARD | RESOLUTIONS

Norman and I had a discussion a couple of years ago about the difference between goals and punch lists and how they are different from resolutions. So here is the definition of resolution in the dictionary.

  • A firm decision to do or not to do something.

So, yes, the following are resolutions. They are my firm decisions that I am going to do or attempt to do in 2021. So here we go on this New Years Day…..drum roll again please…..

Stay close to God. Grade | C last year but back to a B-

I continue to read my daily devotional and being home more during Covid I have done very good this year. Arrow prayers are daily, but so much room to grow. I just need to keep the world from interfering. Being a blogger, the world gets big and in the way, so I need to keep focused on the one who brought me!! Even though I didn’t make the A that I hoped for I still improved. There are so many ways for improvement. I have already made a firm commitment to bumping the B- up a nothch or two this year. The way I believe is without God I have nothing!!

Continue to learn about social media as it relates to sharing my fashion/travel & lifestyle blog. Grade | A-last year… I Cheated this year!

Still giving myself a good grade. As soon as I hear about something new I do try to figure it out or find someone to teach it to me. There is always something to learn. I wanted to learn more about how to edit videos but because SheShe Show has grown so much, technical things like editing is better left for the experts.

Exercise at least 3 to 4 days a week doing a mix of Pilates, yoga, weights, and different cardio activities. Grade C

I have remained a C on exercise. Last year I blamed travel but no excuse this year except that I let work on SheShe Show be my excuse. I still love my Club Pilates. With my erratic schedule, their program really works for me when I can get make myself get there!

Be loving, considerate, and patient with my husband, friends, and family. Grade | B +

Overall I think that I have remained the same on this one. It is known that friends and family can disappoint. We cannot control what they do but I for sure can control my attitudes and actions. Of course, I still have feelings but I decided to not harp on things that I cannot change. I am still having to work very hard to be patient with my husband. He can be the sweetest man on the planet but there is something about aging that causes them to get cranky as they get older. There again, I need to learn to not engage when he is in a crabby mood because it does no good. Always a challenge but I am constantly working on it. I knew what I signed up for over 27 years ago so I am in it for the long haul.

Once a week clean out and reorganize one drawer or cabinet in my house. It is time to purge!!! Grade | A last year A this year!

I did good last year and really good this year. There are some things that being in quarantine was good for. I took some great tips from the  Mind Your Mess team (a 2 girl organization company) and organized my bathroom cabinets and drawers as well as my laundry room cabinet and drawers. I cannot believe how much stuff I threw out. I am not a hoarder but I keep a lot of unnecessary stuff. They really helped me gain a new perspective and now I have been ticking away at my closet. The older I get the less I want all the stuff. Check out this post with my office re-organization.

Take a big trip somewhere out of the country every year!!  Grade | B but on hold for now.

Well, we know what happened on this resolution. Look what I wrote last year. I had a full year of travel. In fact, it was too much. I must find some balance in 2020. I am exhausted as I am currently on another trip. I have some great reviews on 2019 travel if you are looking for great destinations to visit once we can travel again Sonoma, CACoastal Mississippi,Italy, Paris, Memphis, and (coming soon) Quebec? I could not pick a favorite because I loved every minute of exploring each of these areas of our world. I am thinking about where I will go first. Will it be this year? That is the million-dollar question!

Sell my last building in Montrose, CO, and remodel our beach house kitchen | Grade  A- went up to an A.

We did sell my last building downtown Montrose, CO back in August. It is the building where SheShe Boutique operates. Kimberly McGehee, the girl who bought my business back in 2011 was able to put the deal together. I am so happy because I really wanted her to be the one to own it. It was bitter sweet to let this beautiful historic building go, but I know that it is in great hands with Kimberly.

We did remodel our kitchen and just finished. It is so nice and I can’t wait to get back down to Sanibel this month to enjoy it. This next year I plan on buying new outdoor furniture for the lani.

Stay Close To My Tennessee Roots
Grade |
Grade A….. on pause.

My new beach house has already been so good for hosting my sisters and other friends and family. I had the best time again last January with my sisters. They love the beach and really love shelling as much as I do. We had planned to travel to Tennessee this year for our annual Tennessee trip but COVID 19 changed all of our plans. Like most everyone we stayed at home, but we do hope to go there in June or July where we can be on the lake.

Create & Design my own brand of fashion & lifestyle products.
Grade | Grade F
…… still failing at this one.

I am not looking to be a big name designer, but the industry is changing, and even at over 65 years old, I see an opportunity to fulfill a dream, even if it is just a cell phone case or T-Shirt. Stay tuned….we will see….. I have many ideas but my other blog work is a time sucker and prevents me from working on this project. I have not given up on this dream…….maybe 2020? I am still failing miserably on this resolution. I blame it on too much work not allowing me time for planning, research, and implementing.

2020 NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS

Hire Mind Your Mess to Organize My Closet. | Grade B-

Since I learned to purge and organizing tips from Mind Your Mess team, I decided to attack my closet myself. It is such a big job and still not done but making progress. I just ordered some jewelry trays to organize my earrings, bracelets, and necklaces. I have a huge collection that got totally out of hand.

Find a balance between work and personal time doing fewer trips and only taking work that reflects what our brand is really about. | Grade C-

I definitely did less travel but I still have a hard time with work interfering. I took on too many campaigns in November and December making me absolutely crazy. I have to find a solution this year because the stress is going to kill me!!

Drink more water and get at least 7 hours of sleep every night. That means getting to bed earlier for that to happen. | Grade C

I have been taking a lot of supplements this year in hopes of helping my immune system so that being said I have been pretty good with my water intake. Sleep is still a struggle…..I am still only getting about 6-6 1/2 hours of sleep at night. I know what to do, I just need to do it!!

Do more YouTube videos | C+

I haven’t done that many new YouTube videos but I have tried my hand at IGTV and REELS on Instagram and it is so much fun. YouTube is still on my list though.

2021 NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS

  • Finish decorating my patio in Florida and in Houston. I just bought 4 swivel rattan rocker chairs for the Houston house but I want to paint cabinets and add a cocktail table, pillow, and rug. I have no idea what I will do at our Sanibel place. I need to get my thoughts together.
  • Paint and re-do laminate in the laundry room in Houston home.
  • Remodel the master bathroom in Houston. Our home here is 21 years old and in need of some serious updating. We just finished the kitchen with a new sink, faucet, and quartz countertops. I will do a post on the remodel this spring.
  • Keep organizing my closet and hopefully finish it.
  • Organize my garage! ……. argh!!

2021 RESOLUTIONS CONCLUSION

So there you have it. I am putting it out there once again and I am ok if you hold me accountable. There are so many things that I could do better and improve on, but I want to make my list achievable. We will see when we look at our new year resolutions again next year at this same time. I is always fun for me to see how I did.

Now friends, turn around and look ahead. That’s why we are so happy and excited! A new chance! Work as if everything depends on your diligence and trust in the blessings of the Lord to bring success. We look forward to sharing this great New Year 2021 with all of you!

I think it would be marvelous if there was a line of clothes designed by you with the 60 plus woman in mind. Your style is impeccable. After loosing 90 pounds I discovered your blog and have followed you ever since. I put together an entire new wardrobe through your blog recommendations.

One of my resolutions is cleaning my closet! I have pants and shirts in 4 different sizes all too big!!! I also resolve to learn to wear skirts and dresses. Still so body conscious that I’m afraid to do so. Pants are so much safer.

Happy NewYear to both of you. I’ll be looking forward to more SheShe!
