After almost 3 years since my first YouTube video, then on to Instagram and then the blog, it’s so crazy to say that I was just selected to be one of Southern Livings most Stylish Instagrams!
It has been an incredible journey to the present day, but it hasn’t been all fun and games. Being in the age group of 60+ comes with massive barriers that push me to be more innovative and forward thinking everyday. Although, one thing that never changed in my daily fashion influencer activities was staying true to who I am. It’s not a cat-walk. It’s a rough world out there and being around much younger fashion bloggers can be intimidating and competitive, but I have found my place, because of ONE reason.
I BUILT IT
Every time I release a new blog post, new Instagram picture, etc, I am continuing to break the barriers set only by my age and I am loving it! This comes full circle to my original quote that my grandson/assistant reminds me of every so often, “Age is only a number.”
What does all of this mean? I am not sure just yet but I hope that it means that being over 60 is finally relevant in the world of advertising. I do know that brands are showing mature women in their campaigns more and more. They want to include us because we are the ones with more expendable income, but hey are just making sure that they won’t loose their market share by doing so. I am excited to see the evolution of advertising and marketing. It is changing and changing fast.
I have had so many comments on Facebook from women over 50 encouraging me and and lifting me up. If I was chosen to be the trail blazer then I wear that badge of honor proudly and hope to serve my generation well. I might have a different style than you, but the goal is to be acknowledged as living, viable human beings that can make a difference in the advertisers pocketbook.

ABOUT MY LOOK
I bought this top early in the season for over $300 and it is now on sale for $109. I am wearing the medium and I am normally a size 6, so it runs on the smaller side. This will be a great holiday top. I will wear it with jeans as well as a black leather skirt for a dressier look. The booties are a printed calf hair. I love the block heel and rounded toe box. It sure makes for a comfortable bootie. Also, I am crushing over the smaller cross body bags this season. This bag from J Crew is tri colored with a beautiful blue on one side and the red and leopard made of calf hair on the other sides. It also comes in other colors.
I snagged this classic Burberry jacket, hanging over the Louis Vuitton roll on bag, at Nordstrom’s Anniversary sale back in early August. It hasn’t been cold enough to wear it yet here in south Texas, but it will serve me well for travel to cooler climates for many years to come.
