Welcome to the new Saks Fifth Ave store in Houston, TX located at 5175 Westheimer Rd in the famous Houston Galleria. It is actually located right next to the original store. This was not a remodel, it was designed and built from the ground up. I had the opportunity of visiting the store before opening to the public for a press brunch and personal tour, then the grand opening event supporting MD Anderson Cancer Research Center. All I can say is that this makes me so proud that we have a store like this in Houston, TX. If you haven’t been, then plan your shopping experience asap. It is eye candy from beginning to the end and such an experience to see and touch all of the beautiful things.
Follow me through some of my photos as I take you on your own personal tour. The store is full of designer brands that actually have their own boutiques located strategically throughout the store.
The Dior handbag and accessory boutique was especially cool. Check out this window display showcasing the iconic Lady Dior bag! If you didn’t know, Lady Diana made this bag famous and it is still a classic.
The Shoooozzzzzzz
As always, I made a B line to the shoe department. I didn’t have to go far because it is located right as you walk in the store from the Westheimer side. The selection is the best in Houston!! Very dangerous……..
Here, right in the center of the store is the most beautiful white contemporary grand staircase. It was designed to appear as a ribbon dancing its way down from the second floor. The store only has 2 floors but the square footage is much larger than the former 3 level store, over 200,00 sq ft.. Right beside the staircase on the first floor is Bar 12, a bar where you can take a break from shopping or just meet a friend for a glass if wine. The mens department is now on the first floor as well as shoes, handbags, jewelry, beauty and valet. On the second floor you will find women’s departments. Again, there are individual boutiques for most of the designers, making it very easy to navigate and find your favorite designer.
On the eve of the grand opening Norman and I chatted with Bobby Dees, our friend and manager of this beautiful store as well as his long time right hand girl Sylvia Forsythe.
Also for the entire week Saks hosted London based designer Erdem.( pictured with me below) He is noted for his experimental textiles and intricate craftsmanship.I actually majored in Textiles and Clothing in collage so I am so intrigued by a talent like Erdem. (yes, Erdem is his first name ) He was most delightful to talk to and I can’t wait to visit him and his studio some day in the not to far future. He is a very accomplished young designer and I would say that he has a huge future ahead of him.

The next photo is of the boutique Le Labo. “It is is the most selective perfume brand in the world (35 boutiques and corners), based on a freshly handmade concept, unique in the perfume world” This is another total must experience at Saks Houston and you must acquaint yourself with this brand before you stop by!!!! FYI The beauty & fragrance department at Saks Houston is the second largest department in the country!!!
Bond No. 9 NYC a unisex fragrance company has opened their extremely colorful boutique in the Saks Houston store. Each fragrance is developed from inspiration taken from the streets and areas of NYC. Read this fascinating story here. I have linked some of my favorite areas of New York. This boutique is a must see for sure. I can’t wait to go back and just smell all of these fragrances.
Nails and lips….oh yes. Christian Louboutin (the shoe designer ) introduced nail polish a couple of years ago. I have the first original red that he came out with. Love it!! The shades are all so rich in color. He has since added a variety of colors to his palette that I have linked for you as well as his new beautiful new lipsticks.

51FIFTEEN CUISINE & COCKTAILS restaurant has a new sought after Chef Stefon Rishel, exemplifies the utmost in elegance, complementing the new store’s exquisite ambience an homage to luxury. It is located on the second floor. What a great day to spend shopping eating and maybe a drink or ????? It might be a destination dinner spot for that very special evening!!
MEN’S LOUNGE is a private men’s shopping experience and located in a refined modern setting. Made-to-order ( MTO ) services are part of the shopper experience within the lounge.
