I have thought long and hard about what it means to be an American and what the Fourth of July means to me.
I was so blessed to be born in the good ole USA and to parents that instilled patriotism into my soul. My dad actually spent most of his life serving his country, first in the army and then in the Air National Guard as a “weekend warrior.” He served a year in Germany in the early 60’s during the Cuban missile crisis and then again a year in the United Emirates during both Gulf Wars. He was always ready to put his uniform on and fight for his country.
Today, as we celebrate The United Sates of America’s birthday, let’s remember and give thanks to our fore fathers who believed in what could be. They planned, fought and died so that we have freedom of religion and to be free of tyrannical governments. In my 61 years I have lived through many presidents and several wars. It really scares me to think many of our freedoms have started to slip away. If we don’t keep the ship on course then we will be right back how life was before. I am so proud that even with all of the world chaos, we still have men and women willing to keep fighting for these freedoms, we just need the leadership to guide them.
As we enter this very controversial election season, please remember why this country was founded and how great it is. Please choose a president that is brave and willing to fight for our freedoms regardless if it might affect his/her popularity.
So, I will keep praying for our leaders to make the right decisions and I will keep praying that the people put the right leaders in place.
God Bless you and your families and GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!
