Today is all about Tahari ASL A brand review, plus my curated wish list. One of the best things about doing what I do is I get introduced to new brands, then after I get a chance to check them out, I can then share them with you.
Tahari ASL was started by Authur S. Levine in 2001. Well known with a great reputation on 7th street in New York for over 40 years, Authur’s Tahari brand was immediately recognized for it’s quality, design and construction with consistent sizing. He first lauched Tahari ASL doing beautiful suits and has since expanded the brand designs into dresses and separates.
I see this brand being a working woman’s dream and a great place to find a dress to wear to a wedding as a guest or even mother of the bride. So below I have created a few choices from different style categories that fit my taste and I will share some characteristics of the styles so that you can decide if the cut, fabrics, and style fits your taste. I will also be linking back the the Tahari ASL website so that you can look at the many other looks from their collection.
Having just returned from the inauguration, I couldn’t help but notice that these suits look like first lady suits. I love the bow detail on the white suite and the color of the middle suite is so on point for this spring and pink looks pretty on most anyone.
Each jacket hits just below the waist and high on the hips making a flattering fit. Skirt lengths are really what you are comfortable with, just be careful to keep the proportions in line with the jacket. Just above the knee or just below the knee are typically the best lengths. If you are a petite then definitely stay just below the knee and no longer. Wearing a mid calf or ankle length will only make you look shorter. If you don’t mind your knees showing then wear the skirt just above your knees. Being the color person that I am, I would probably do the robin egg’s blue suit. If I could really design my own, I would do the blue fabric with the bow neck design.
Which one is your pick?
Be sure to go here to see some other great suit looks. I also love this suit because is has really nice sheering details at the waist giving a more slimming look and this suit that has a peplum and zipper front closure.
I love love dresses. Throw it on and off you go…..easy to pack and accessorize. You know how much I love accessories. These 3 dresses are so versatile. I see any one of them easy to wear at a casual lunch, church, and throw a cardigan or blazer over the top and wear them to work. That would be depending on where you work. Wear a flat or heeled sandal or for a more proper look wear a closed toed pump. I am loving the block heels now.
I love most all of their dresses. If you don’t have a LBD (little black dress) then you should look at this one or I love the back exposed zipper detail on this one.
When I owned my boutique I learned that my customers would spend more money on tops, tops, tops. That being said, if you have a couple of great pants, jeans, and skirts then you can change up your entire look with different blouses. These 3 blouses are great for layering under suit jackets. They each have different neckline treatments with different colors and prints. They can be worn alone if you don’t mind a sleeveless top. I personally think we need to give way to the ‘high Helen’s’ and just don’t worry any more about our arms. Do you know what a ‘hight Helen’ is? Ha! It is when you lift your arm to wave and the under fatty side of the upper arms flap in the wind. High Helen…… A top that has sleeves that are too tight at the top of the arm, looks worse than just showing them off. Think about it……
I love tops and all the Tahari tops are so cute. These styles below also come in other colors and prints.
Pants are hard, because they are either too short or too long for us. We are all shaped so different too. This line makes an easier fit because they come in missy, petites and plus size. The sizing is consistent, so if you wear a size 10 in one style, then you will be a 10 in a different style. With so many other brands, you just never know from one item to the next what size you will be. Very frustrating. I wish the world you get on one standard sizing scale!!!
The skinny leg and flare crop leg are really trending now, but if you are in a conservative work environment then the straight leg is probably your best choice.
Do you see one of the big trends below? It is the lace up top. Here you have a choice of a long sleeve top or a sleeveless top. I want them both!!! The middle top resonates with me because why?????? That’s right, COLOR!!! Yeah!!! I love all of the colors. Any 3 of these tops could be worn with jeans, pants or a skirt.
There are so many other cut tops. Ruffles are really big right. This ruffle top is so cute and the color is beautiful. A great way to dress up your separates for a dressier event.
Thank goodness we have so many choices of what skirt lengths and styles that we can wear now. They are all in style!! Any style works, but does that skirt work for you is the question? Remember, think about proportions and scale when pairing your skirt with a top. I thing that pencil skirts are the most flattering on most figures….even plus size.
The pant suit is great because you can style the pieces separately making different outfits. They are very comfortable but yet professional. Hillary Clinton served the pantsuit well. I wanted to see her wear dresses and skirt suits, but she obviously was more confident in a pant suit. Hey, each to his own. I personally like to mix it up and I don’t like to be so predictable. That is what makes fashion so fun and even though you might work in a conservative environment, doesn’t mean you can’t add a piece of jewelry, scarf or belt to give some interest to your outfit.
If you want to look taller, choose a monochromatic pantsuit like this one or this one.
No matter what, we will certainly need a long gown at some time or another in our lives. You will attend a formal wedding, go to a charity event, reunion, holiday party, etc, etc. Tahari ASL has such a nice selection of special occasion dresses for you. I love lace like the first dress on the left. So many designers are doing lace. The middle dress has a retro feel with the modified off the shoulder. Be sure to check out the back of this dress. It is so lady like. On the right is a layered ruffle dress that is so feminine and definitely on trend.
I think that I have had to buy a long dress every year for the past 5 years. Unfortunately I have been unable to wear the same dress twice due to what ever reason.
I hope you have enjoyed this post
