Today we are bringing you a little DIY project on how to make an off the shoulder top from your boyfriend’s shirt. It could be your boyfriend’s shirt, your husband’s, brother’s or a shirt that you find at a thrift shop. How fun is it to create something old into something new?
About 15 years ago, before I opened SheShe Boutique in Montrose, CO I had a little business where I would re make old clothes into updated trendy pieces. I called it re-cycle design and my business name was SheShe Designs. Go figure!! It gave me that creativity that I so needed. I actually learned how to sew at 13 years old and went on to major in Textiles & Clothing in college. From there the only thing I really knew to do was to be a Home Ec teacher. What’s funny is that my mother recently said that she was sorry that she hadn’t pushed me more into things that I showed interest in at a young age. In my day and from a fairly small town, we didn’t have the information or resources to even know where to begin. No internet!! Can anyone relate?
I don’t look back on what could have been because I have had an amazing journey in many different careers. Besides fashion, aviation was my other love. You can read all about that part of my life in one of my very first blog posts call “My Aviation Journey”.
Anyway, coming full circle, I can still recall my life in snippets and share with you as it pertains to my stories here on SheShe Show. With that said these 2 shirts that I am showing you today are special because they both belonged to two of the most important men in my life, my husband and my dad.
