Happy Fri-Yay my friends. Coming back to Houston’s heat and humidity after loving the cooler temps in Africa and Paris meant a quick trip to Galveston for some Island Style before heading to the mountains in Colorado. As much as I love the mountains I am still an island girl through and through. There is just something about the smell of salt in the air, sticky humid breezes, ocean sounds, sunsets, sunrises, seashells, sharks teeth, sand in your eyes, nose and mouth, swimsuits, big hats, beach towels, umbrellas, smell of sunscreen, fresh seafood, flip flops, boogie boards, sundresses and yes, flamingos, that lure me in every time. This recipe must be the magic because millions of tourist flock to the beaches every chance they can get.
I love packing for a beach vacation because I love the cool vibes of island dressing. I personally have a drawer in my closet full of summer jewelry made of seashells, wood and colorful beads that I love bringing out every summer. Even though I do not need one more thing for my summer beach style, I just can’t help but adding something new every season. First check out this cute tan vegan leather bag. It has that trapezoid shape that is so trending right now and the pop of pink works great with this island inspired outfit.
If you haven’t figured it out by now, then you must know that I have this thing for flamingos and mermaids. Sometimes I think that I was a mermaid in another life. Maybe it has something to do with being a Picean?? Do ya think? I stumbled upon this cute little dress with a cute flamingo print from one of my favorite websites www.chicwish.com. I have picked up several really cute tops, skirts, and dresses over the last couple of years from this website. When ordering just know that most all of the styles run small, so size up. They are also made in Asia so returns are more expensive than the cost of the item. If I order something that doesn’t fit then I just give it away as opposed to sending it back. It also takes a couple of weeks to receive your merchandise, so allow plenty of time if you are planning on wearing it for a special occasion. I know you are thinking then why even bother???? The look and quality for the value is why!! You will find the fashion blogger community using this site frequently.
If you get on the mailing list then you can get in on the sales that run often. This dress is 15% off of the already low price of $69.90 and I am wearing a size medium. If you are a 2-4 order a small, size 6 a medium and 8-10 size large and unfortunately they do not do extra larges. Their off the shoulder tops are adorable and a fairly easy fit if it isn’t cropped or real fitted. Remember this is an Asian company…..they are tiny people.
