For almost a year now a group of 10 ladies from the Houston area lunch together once a month at a different restaurant. We are the “Dining Divas”. The concept is to bring new and old friends together to experience the amazing restaurants in and around the city. For me, I have particularly loved it, because I rarely get a chance to dine in “town”, as I call it.
My husband and I travel a lot and we live 25 miles southeast of downtown in the Clear Lake area of Houston, so when I am home we don’t venture out too far. Also, having a special luncheon to go to gives me the opportunity to dress up a little more than usual. I love planning my “Diva” outfits! Of course, being a foodie, is the icing on the cake. No pun intended.
Every month a different girl gets to choose where she wants to go and each girl pays for her own meal. So far, the chefs and managers go out of their way to roll out the red carpet for us. We get to sample a fabulous array of complimentary appetizers or desserts and often get the restaurant “story” as well as a group photo with the chef/owner. Even though it is not said that the hosting Diva should do anything special for our lunch, it now is sort of expected that we will have wine, appetizer or desert, and fun little goodies to take home with us, compliments of our hostess.
