Festivals popping up everywhere, and I am excited that many festival days are ahead. The love of music, film, food, wine, friends and more is a love from the past, the present and will continue on into the future. What was Woodstock when I was 20 is now Coachella, South by Southwest to name a few.
Trends in clothing for festivals has always had a lot of free spirited flare. What is really fun for me is today’s festival fashions are exactly what I wore in the 70’s when I was in my early 20’s.
Many designers today are recreating the bohemian 70’s look. Free People has always been known for that style. Here I am wearing a 4Love & Liberty by Johnny Was silk kimono jacket. They too are known for relaxed bohemian California style. This fringe jacket has several trends in one…..floral, fringe and kimono.
This fringe jacket can be worn layered over jeans, jumpsuit, dress, shorts, or even great for a swimsuit converup.
A lighter wash in denim is big for spring as well as the ripped, shredded and torn look. Hats were big in the fall/winter and have carried through for spring/summer. I LOVE hats, so I have been wearing them a lot, plus they provide protection for your face.
Today, I am showing a suede pump with this outfit. I assure you, I would not wear a pump of any kind to a festival, but I love this look for a casual evening out. Remove the pumps and add a pair of comfortable sandals (birkenstocks), cute sneakers or a little short bootie with your floppy hat, then you are ready for an outdoor weekend filled with festival fun.
