I am just loving the choices of hem lengths these days. We had mini skirts in the sixties, midi and maxi’s in the 70’s and 90’s and today we have the choice of all the lengths. In my last post I talked about how short should I go for my age. If you are like me, you would like to wear a short dress or skirt but choose not to because our legs and knees are just not like they used to be or maybe you are a little or lot heavier than you would like to be. Well…..I have found a good alternative that covers but allows a little sex appeal. The double skirt or layered dresses. with either a built in shorter skirt or the lining is short with a nice sheer or lace skirt layered over that is longer and gives the illusion of short but you can’t see skin.

This skirt in the photos actually is fairly sheer with a mid thigh mini skirt underneath. I tried to reveal it in this photo shoot, but somehow hard to see, but it is there. This skirt is no longer available but I linked a couple of others similar for less than $30. They have longer linings, so all you have to do to get the look is have your alterations lady hem the lining to mid thigh or where ever you are comfortable. I have actually redesigned several dresses and skirts in my closet with this look in mind. The other thing you can do is slit the skirt to mid thigh if you want to show a little leg. I took this skirt to my seamstress to do just that after this photoshoot.

Of course i am wearing another hat. I will do a post on hats soon…..just love them!! This hat by Gladys Tamez is a little pricey but I love the style. I have linked a couple of other hats that look similar and are a little more budget friendly.

The gladiator sandal is another huge trend this season. This style goes all the way back to biblical days, but today it looks a little more modern of course.

As you know by now, I love accessories….be it a hat, scarf, jewelry or handbags. Here I am showing a gorgeous cuff that was a birthday gift. It brings a modern element to this look. Over the last few years I have been collecting clutch bags. I just love the Geranium color of this Kate Spade bag which is now on sale. Kate Spade does beautiful leather goods. So go to your closet and see if there is an old skirt or dress that could be updated and restyled that will breath life back into it. You will feel like your wearing a brand new outfit.
