Hello my dog lover friends. Today I am introducing you to Miss “Pippa”, my 4 legged 5 year old Toy Fox Terrier. Who’s walking who here? If you are not a dog lover or it has been a while since you have had a doggie, then I am going to give you 5 reasons why you should own a dog.
- Best Friend || Companionship || It is just nice knowing that Pippa is in the house. When Norman is out of town, having her to hang out with is so comforting. When she is not here, the house feels so cold and empty, making me feel lonely. She really is like a best friend. We know each other so well. I know her habits and demeanor and she knows mine. Good with the bad.
- Unconditional love || There is no other love quite like doggie love. They look at you and think you hang the moon. If they only knew…..right?? All they want or need from us is our love. Those eyes, their sweet kisses, face hugs and jump for joy when they see you come through the door!!! If I have had a disappointing day, it all changes as soon as I see my girl.
- Responsibility || Some of you that don’t have pets or a dog might think that they are too much trouble. The real deal though is that they make us get up and move. I especially know that for the elderly, having the responsibility of taking care of a dog helps with depression, gets them off of the couch or out of bed, and fills up that lonely space with lots of love. For children, having a pet teaches them about caring for others be an animal or a human. Dogs cannot feed themselves or let themselves outside to go potty. They depend on us for everything. We keep them healthy with frequent visits to the vet and we have them groomed. All of this shows children how to be responsible for something they love. Sometimes I would like to live the life of Pippa. Wouldn’t it be great to sleep all day, eat, poop, play, and repeat? Hmmm the life of our pets.
- Conversation || They bring out the human conversation. With all of the techie toys, social media, phones, and etc that keep us from talking today, a dog keeps us in the real world. We might not talk to our husbands, but we all talk to our dogs. I also love when I walk Pippa, how everyone wants to stop me and talk. Would they stop me to talk if I was by myself? Probably not.
- They create laughter || Norman and I smile and laugh so much when we are hanging out with Miss Pippa. She makes us laugh and we are always in awe how stinkin’ cute she is. We call them ‘sweet eyes’. They get you every time.
They love with their eyes and their heart. They understand us. When I am sad or full of any kind of emotion, they know….they sense it and will not leave your side. It is the most amazing thing. I love my Miss “Pippa.”
If you are missing any of these things in your lives, then maybe it’s time to be thinking about getting a dog. There are so many dogs out there that would love to be adopted into a wonderful. I must tell you a story that just happened last week.
In our local paper a couple of weeks ago, I saw a photo of the cutest doggie from one of our dog shelters. I was like, I need that dog, but we travel so much, we just couldn’t handle 2 dogs. I was so heart felt and touched though by this little cutie. The very next day Norman proceeded to tell me about the same dog he had seen in the paper. I couldn’t believe it. I told him that the dog had been in shelter for a while and he would be euthanized soon unless he was adopted. I could see his sadness in his eyes when I told him that.
The following day Norman came home and he told me what he had been up to. He went to the shelter with a kennel in tow, paid for the dog that was in the paper, donated money to the shelter, then turned around and gave the dog to his driver, Johnny. He and his wife had recently put down their dog that they had for many years. When Johnny showed up at his home, Rita, his wife was overcome with joy. I said Norman, “what if Johnny didn’t want the dog? What would you have done?” He said, “I would have found a good home for that sweet dog. There is no way I could let them do away with him.”
I can’t leave this conversation without sharing with you about our Jack Russell Terrier, Dexter, that passed away 6 years ago. He was the most amazing dog I have ever known. He was famous in these parts. Without getting into a whole other long story about him, just look at the photo below and read the poem that a friend wrote about him.
These are exactly the reasons we love dogs in our lives. I would love to hear about your dog, dogs or other pets that give you the warm and fuzzies.

OUTFIT BY LYNN RITCHIE
Back in December I introduced you to Lynn Ritchie, a great brand that I have worn for years. I actually carried this line at my boutique in Colorado. My customers loved Lynn Ritchie because of the quality, easy style and great fit.
Lynn has just celebrated 25 years in the fashion business. She came from a fashion family in Chicago and studied at the famous Parsons School of Design in NYC. This outgoing and very active lady understands her customers and what is going on in lifestyle’s of today. Hence, she designs this very cute and versatile reversible tunic and legging. I love how I can mix and match this set. I can wear all navy, all chambray or blue on top with chambray on bottom or vice versa. When I am just hanging around the house or running errands this is my go to outfit. When my husband gives me a compliment, then I know I hit it out of the park. Even if it is something as casual as this. ( The top is reversed in the photos below)
I love how Lynn calls dressing a “sensual experience”! I never really looked at dressing that way, but just think about it for a minute. When we put something on, we either feel the love or we don’t. It is a gut feeling and usually you can depend on our gut. So feeling good in your choice or call it feeling sensual, then you have it right! That is what Lynn Ritchie brings to your wardrobe!
Be sure to check out other styles offered on the website. I especially love her color block tops. If you remember I showed you a really cute cold shoulder top and pull on knit pant back in January. You can read that post here.
For a limited time, Lynn Ritchie is offering a @25% discount to all SheShe Show readers. Use code: SHESHE25 at check out. When choosing your size, size down. I am usually a size small or medium depending on the brand, but with Lynn Ritchie you can size way down. I am wearing an extra small, so boy does that work on your mental in a good way!!
