I don’t know what it is about the beach that draws so many of us to it, but I feel soooo good when I am there. I don’t even mind that sand gets everywhere and I mean everywhere. I did not have enough time to spend the day at Riviera Beach, but I managed to squeeze a little time to take a walk and sit for a spell and remind myself that life is just a beach!
The water is so pretty in south Florida and the water temperature stays about the same year round. The wind was blowing from the east, so we had some seawead washing up on the beach. Also, with the seaweed came a lot of shells. One of my favorite things to do is look for pretty shells.
I love to pack a beach cover up that is easy and something that I can wear to a restaurant need be. I shopped my own closet for this little dress, but I did find a few little dresses that I linked for you below if you like this look. Really there are so many great swimsuit coverups that would work. Think about a sarong, pull on drawstring pant, and long flowy skirts for other options.
The most important beauty tip while at the beach is to protect you face and even your eyes. A wide brimmed hat and UV sunglasses is a must. The UV rays of the sun can actually damage your eyes over time. Nowadays they make packable hats. Genius…..right?
I had several of these Mexican blankets at home that I use for tableclothes when I have a Fiesta party. We have a lot of those in Texas. As you can see here, they also make a great beach blanket. Colorful for sure. I found one similar for you as well as a colorful quilt linked below. The best place of course to get a Mexican blanket is at a Mercado or in Mexico. They are inexpensive, versatile, and they look great!
Stay hydrated and use a lot of high SPF sunscreen. I use the La Roche-Posay sunscreen. It is recommended by many dermatologists. It usually sells for $36 a tube, but I actually found it on sale for you. Just click on the link below.
When I was growing up we did not know how bad the sun was for our skin and if you did not have a dark suntan, you were not very cool. We slathered ourselves in baby oil and iodine among other things to get that deep dark tan. Now, I am paying for it. As much as I love the sun, it just isn’t worth having that dark tan anymore. Melanoma is deadly if not caught early. USE A GOOD SUNSCREEN and reapply regularly.
Long walks on the beach are a great time to meditate. For me, it brings me closer to God. I am always in awe of his creation!
Well, it’s time to get back to our suite and get ready for dinner. My next blog is on the beach again and about swimsuit choices. Yes, I am going to bare it all. Well……almost all!
