EXPLORING THE HAMPTONS

I hope everyone has a Bucket list and if you don’t then maybe you should think about making one. I just got to check off one of my destinations on my bucket list. I just returned from an amazing trip to The Hamptons located at the tip of Long Island, NY. All of my life I have heard about the rich and famous summering in the Hamptons. Well, my close YaYa friend Suzie, invited me to fly out for 5 days and stay on their 4 stateroom boat docked at the Sag Harbor Yacht Club in The Hamptons with a few of the girls in her family. Our ages ranged from 23, 38, 53, 59, & 72. We had a grand time!!! It was so fun hanging out with all of these amazing women.

Our first day was spent around Sag Harbor. We all had some jet lag from our travels the previous day, so we booked foot messages from a place called Happy Feet. For $35 and an hour of pure pampering and relaxation started my time in The Hamptons on the right foot. No pun intended.

We explored 5 quaint littles towns that make up the Hamptons. We ate, drank, and shopped, earning ourselves a black belt for sure. As all of the towns have cute shoppes, my favorite town for great shopping was East Hampton and my favorite store is Intermix. I found some really cute pieces for fall and had it all shipped back to Houston.

We certainly did not lack for good food. We had an incredible Japanese meal at Zen in Sag Harbor where we ate and sampled an array of wonderful sushi and assorted dishes. Also while touring the Hampton’s, we ate at the French Restaurant Pierre’s in Bridge Hampton and seafood at St. Peter’s Catch in Montauk where I devoured a very large lobster and clam lunch.

To add to all of the wonderful walks around the Hamptons, the special time at my home for the week on the Lady Zelda. Our first mate was the best chef and he would always make wonderful breads for our breakfast. I could smell the aroma all the way to my stateroom. Every afternoon he prepared homemade appetizers and dips with cocktails waiting for us to return from our hard day of shopping. We enjoyed a couple of delicious meals sitting on the back of the boat watching beautiful sunsets, feeling the mild summer breeze and enjoying great conversation with my travel companions.

So, I hope this brief little summary of my trip to the Hamptons will get you excited about adding this destination to your bucket list.
