How many of you still have a pair of 25 year old sweat pants stuffed in a drawer somewhere? If you are around my age, then you might have a pair. Now is the time to throw them out and replace with a newer version. You must like them because you kept them all of these years. On the bright side, now they are more versatile……..dress them up with a cute shirt, jacket, blazer, or sweater. And then you will have the newest trend, dressed up sweats!
This is the second time in recent weeks that I have done a post on the sweat pant or track pant, so you know I must love them. I actually bought 3 new pair this season. For me, it is all about comfort. When I am at home, in Austin or Colorado, I want to be comfortable, but fashionable at the same time.
I paired the pants with a sweater that is actually a two in one. The denim shirt is actually a part of the sweater. You can create this same look by taking a sweater and layer it over a denim shirt or any shirt that is long enough, so to expose the hemline of the shirt. This outfit works in cool weather and transitions easily into the next season. I might remove the sweater on a warmer day and add a graphic t-shirt and push to legs of the pants up to just above the calf, a little like knickers. Again, there are no rules here. Have fun experimenting!
So what kind of shoes to wear with sweat pants? I have seen everything from sneakers to pumps. I made the comfortable choice and wore my Ugg boots. I love Uggs so much that I think I have collected 4 or 5 pair now over the years.
I love accessories, but this look really needs very little……if any at all. For me, I have to add on a little. Here I chose a long silver chain and added a couple of my favorite charms. You can personalize you necklace by adding any of your favorite charms. Be creative. I always love re-inventing or re-styling accessories and clothing. I will do a post this year on just that.
