Tips On How To Style The Trending Statement Sleeve

sheshe-star-jeans-16-1I always wonder what each season of fashion will bring that is new and desirable enough for me to get my wallet out and spend. Well, I love this season’s trending statement sleeves and styling them is even more fun. One reason is because it has nothing to do with sexual influence but has everything to do with the artistic flavors of fashion. At my age an overly sexy outfit  is this last thing I look for when deciding on what my fashion choices are going to be. I must add that dressing sexy can go 2 ways…..understated and overt. I prefer understated. Understated sexy comes through confidence and not through the clothes or showing skin.

Below I have linked some really great tops that have different sleeve treatments. We are seeing a lot of bell sleeve tops, fringy, ruffles, as well as the cold shoulder. The sleeve treatment could absolutely be your accessory. I would not wear a necklace with a top that is colorfully artistic or artistic in design. Let the top speak for itself.

As you know I rarely wear black BUT……this black top is not the traditional B-O-R-I-N-G black top…..and the addition of a cool pair of jeans, heeled booties and popping the look with the metallic pink Bao Bao tote bag  then all of the sudden black doesn’t seem black at all any more. Funny how that happens.

This top by Victoria Beckham is from her ready to wear line, not here contour line offering better price points. When I first saw this top online I was excited about a black top for the first time in a long time. I thought about it for a while and decided I could feel really good wearing this top. Feeling good in your clothes is the most important thing to consider when making your clothing investments.

My lifestyle tends to be fairly casual but I still want to be stylish and trendy when Norman and I have a date night or I have a girlfriend outing. This top really is fun and because of the neutral color and t-shirt feel it also makes it a closet staple. A very versatile piece for the fall.

So to re-cap how to style the trending statement sleeve:

  1. Don’t over accessorize. The sleeve is your necklace. Let the details do the work.
  2. Make sure you feel confident wearing your top.
