I have guessed Pantone’s color of the year for years now! In this post are the top trends in colors for 2020 including the colors in my kimono in the photos. I’m so excited and absolutely adore these colors, but now introducing Pantone’s main color of 2020: CLASSIC BLUE.

Color of the year: Classic BLUE

New year new….colors? To start 2020 off as a true colorista, let’s talk color.

HISTORY OF PANTONE

If you’ve been with us for a while, you might remember posts from the past few years about this same topic. This is because every single year, the Pantone corporation (located in New Jersey) announces the color of the season and it takes the fashion world by storm.

So what is Pantone?? Last year, we did some research to find out. In 1963, Lawrence Herbert, Pantone’s founder, created an innovative system of identifying, matching and communicating colors that helped the graphic arts community solve problems with color matching. Pantone has become the world-renowned authority on color and the PANTONE® name is now known worldwide as the standard language for color communication.

CLASSIC BLUE COLOR

And what did they come up with, well…Classic Blue. On the Pantone website the color is described like this:

“Instilling calm, confidence, and connection, this enduring blue hue highlights our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era.

Leatrice Eiseman Quote Exec Dir. at Pantone

So what does this really mean? Simply put, this color will soon take over the runways of the upcoming Spring season. Designers and brands will begin implementing Classic Blue into fashion, style, and decor throughout the country.

Past colors of the year Pantone

We’ve seen this throughout the past decade of Pantone, as their selected colors have gone on to shape the style-world around us. Last year the color of coral was attributed to 2019, to welcome and encourage lighthearted activity. it’s safe to say, there was plenty of that!

But back to this year, Pantone also released two palettes of other notable colors for the Spring 2020 season alongside Classic Blue. The first is known as the top 10, and the second is home to more classic colors.
