Howdy all! Today we’re talkin’ dude ranches…so get your cowboy boots on and let’s giddy up!
Kidding…sort of.
For the past couple of weeks we’ve covered a lot of different topics about living, and specifically traveling, in the altered state the world is in.
One of those topics was RVs (catch up on those articles here and here), which have found a lot of popularity as people look to safely travel with their friends and families.
In that same vain, we wanted to talk about dude ranches, as we know this is a great type of destination (specifically for those road-trippers and RV-ers like me).
So today we’ve selected our eight favorite dude ranches in the US to highlight. Keep reading, and let us know where you’re traveling next!

The High Lonesome Ranch (Colorado)
This property sits along the Western Slope of the Colorado Rockies. With a national park-scale landscape perfectly situated to help connect large ecosystems, High Lonesome Ranch is located on a key habitat corridor.
Fly-fishing for five species of trout, wing-shooting for upland game birds in pristine coverts, dude ranch weeks where families and friends can participate in real cattle drives, glamorous camping in safari-style tents, family reunions, weddings, corporate group retreats, big game hunting, and personal getaways beckon.
The Ranch at Rock Creek (Montana)
This ranch is located in the heart of Western Montana. Originally a working ranch homesteaded in the early 1900’s, owner Jim Manley opened it as an all-inclusive guest ranch in 2010.
Set among 10 square miles of rugged Montana ranchland, the ranch offers guests over 30 outdoor recreational activities, and dozens of unique accommodations featuring four different styles (lodge rooms, canvas cabins, historic barn and luxury homes), memorable ranch cuisine, and a full-service spa.
Families, couples, and friends will discover that The Ranch at Rock Creek is a special place that offers the best of America’s “True West” without sacrificing true comfort.
Tanque Verde Ranch DUDE RANCH (Arizona)
Located in Tucson, Arizona: Tanque Verde Ranch offers more than just the STUNNING landscape. Rich in a southwestern style, the lodging at this ranch gives you a real taste of Arizona. Traditional adobe walls and Santa Fe style architecture perfectly complement the beauty of the natural surroundings.
This ranch also offers an abundance of activities for all ages: including horseback riding, guided hiking and biking, swimming, dancing and fishing. Tanque Verde also has several tennis and basketball courts for guests to take advantage of, PLUS all of the off-site activities available in the beautiful city of Tucson.
The Bar W Ranch (Montana)
The Bar W is a traditional, western-style ranch resort on Spencer Lake in Montana. The 3,000-acre property is a year-round dude ranch that treats guests with true Montana hospitality.
All meals are included, as are activities such as horseback riding, clay pigeon shooting, archery, and fishing. There are picnic areas, BBQs and lawn games, plus a hot tub. Glamping at the Bar W offers a luxury camping resort experience combined with a true cowboy vacation only 23 miles from Glacier National Park.

A secluded jewel tucked into California’s famed Santa Ynez Valley, The Alisai is a 10,000-acre ranch 30 minutes north of Santa Barbara. The property includes 50 miles of riding trails, a 100-acre spring-fed lake, two 18-hole championship golf courses, tennis courts, a pool, a spa, fine dining, and countless other ways to unplug and unwind. Sorrel River Ranch (Utah)
Sorrel River Ranch is an exclusive 240-acre riverside oasis surrounded by the spectacular scenery of Utah’s iconic arches, canyon-lands, and red rock mesas.
