1. Holiday Appetizer Recipe | Baked Brie with Fig Jam & Pistachios

Photo inspo by Natasha Minocha
Elegance without the fuss. This uses the viral “puff pastry wrap” method, combining the popular salty/sweet/nutty trifecta in a warm, decadent format. I have made this recipe and it is so delicious. It is always a popular appetizer that my guests love.
Key Ingredients:
- 1 wheel of Brie Cheese (usually 8-10 oz).
- 1 sheet of Puff Pastry (thawed).
- 1/4 cup Fig Jam (or Pepper Jelly for a spicy kick).
- 1/4 cup Chopped Pistachios.
- 1 Egg (beaten for egg wash).
The ultimate holiday starter. Creamy Brie is wrapped in golden puff pastry, topped with jam and crunchy nuts, then baked until gooey.
Instructions:
- Prep the Pastry: Preheat your oven to 400°F 200°C. Lay the thawed puff pastry sheet on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Place the Brie wheel in the center.
- Add the Topping: Spread the Fig Jam evenly over the top of the Brie. Sprinkle about half of the Chopped Pistachios over the jam.
- Wrap and Seal: Bring the edges of the puff pastry up and over the Brie, gathering them together at the center top. Gently pinch and press the pastry seams to seal the cheese completely. If there is excess dough, you can trim it or use cookie cutters to make small festive shapes to decorate the top.
- Egg Wash: Brush the entire surface of the pastry with the beaten Egg (egg wash). This gives it that beautiful golden-brown color.
- Bake: Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed, golden brown, and the cheese is soft and gooey inside.
- Garnish and Serve: Let it cool for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with the remaining pistachios. Serve immediately with crackers, apple slices, or crusty bread.
2. Holiday Meat Recipe | Herb-Crusted Prime Rib Roast

Photo inspo by Rachel Cook
The ultimate luxury recipe. It could be the quintessential, show-stopping choice for a celebratory Christmas dinner and for anytime of the year I can’t wait to try this. The trend focuses on simple, intense herb crusts to let the high-quality beef flavor truly shine.
Key Ingredients:
- 4-6 lb Bone-in Prime Rib Roast (Prime Grade recommended).
- Fresh Herbs: Rosemary, Thyme (finely chopped).
- Garlic (minced).
- Dijon Mustard (as a binding agent).
- Coarse Kosher Salt & Black Pepper.
A perfectly cooked roast with a fragrant, crunchy herb crust and a tender, juicy center. Served simply with Au Jus or a homemade Horseradish Cream.
Instructions:
- Prep the Roast: Take the Prime Rib Roast out of the refrigerator 2 hours before cooking to allow it to come to room temperature. Pat the roast completely dry with paper towels.
- Make the Paste: In a small bowl, combine the minced Garlic, chopped Rosemary, chopped Thyme, a generous amount of Coarse Kosher Salt and Black Pepper, and the Dijon Mustard. Mix until a thick paste forms.
- Season: Slather the herb paste evenly over the entire surface of the roast (excluding the bone side). The Dijon acts as a binder.
- High-Heat Sear: Preheat your oven to a high temperature, around 450°F 230°C. Place the roast, fat side up, in a roasting pan. Roast for 15 minutes at this high temperature.
- Low-Heat Finish: Immediately reduce the oven temperature to 325°F 160°C. Continue roasting until the internal temperature reaches your desired doneness (use a meat thermometer):
- Rare: 120-125°F
- Medium-Rare (Recommended): 130-135°F
- Medium: 135-140°F
- Rest (Crucial!): Remove the roast from the oven. Tent it loosely with foil and let it rest for 20-30 minutes. Do not skip this step! Resting allows the juices to redistribute, ensuring a tender, moist final product. Slice and serve with Au Jus or Horseradish Cream.
3. Holiday Savory Recipe | Balsamic-Glazed Brussels Sprouts with Bacon

Photo inspo by Edyta
The definitive side dish recipe. Roasted Brussels sprouts are a holiday non-negotiable, and the Balsamic Glaze and Bacon variation is the most popular recipe, providing the perfect balance of smoky, salty, sweet, and crispy textures.
Key Ingredients:
- 2 lbs Brussels Sprouts (trimmed and halved).
- 6 slices Bacon (diced).
- Olive Oil, Salt, and Pepper.
- 1/2 cup Balsamic Glaze (reduced vinegar or pre-made).
- Optional: Toasted Pecans or Shaved Parmesan.
Crispy, charred sprouts tossed with smoky bacon and finished with a sticky, tangy balsamic reduction. The perfect gourmet vegetable side.
Instructions:
- Prep the Ingredients: Preheat your oven to 400°F 200°C. Trim and halve the Brussels Sprouts. Dice the Bacon.
- Roast the Bacon: Place the diced bacon on a large, parchment-lined baking sheet and roast for 5 minutes until it starts to render its fat but is not yet fully crisp.
- Toss the Sprouts: Remove the pan from the oven. Add the halved Brussels Sprouts, Olive Oil, Salt, and Pepper directly onto the baking sheet with the partially cooked bacon. Toss everything together to coat the sprouts with the bacon fat and oil.
- Finish Roasting: Spread the sprouts in a single layer and return the pan to the oven. Roast for another 15-20 minutes, stirring halfway through, until the sprouts are tender and beautifully charred on the edges.
- Glaze: Remove the pan from the oven. Drizzle the Balsamic Glaze generously over the sprouts and bacon. Toss lightly to coat.
- Serve: Transfer to a serving platter and optionally sprinkle with Toasted Pecans or Shaved Parmesan for extra flavor and crunch.
4. Holiday Salad Recipe | Cranberry Fruit Salad

Photo inspo by Morethanmeatandpotatoes
This delightful Cranberry Fruit Salad is a treasured family classic, always featuring prominently at holiday gatherings. It’s the kind of dish my mother always cooks, and Norman’s side of the family loves to prepare it too. Served in a Pyrex-style glass dish to showcase its beautiful pink color and crunchy texture, this recipe combines the tart bite of raw cranberries with the sweetness of fruit and a fluffy, creamy base. The key to its texture is the “crunch” that comes from the chopped nuts and the fruit!
Key Ingredients:
For the Cranberry Base:
- 1 (12 ounce) package of fresh cranberries (about 4 cups)
- 1/2 cup granulated white sugar
- 1 (8 ounce) can crushed pineapple, well drained (reserve the juice)
For the Crunch and Fluff:
- 2 cups miniature marshmallows
- 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (toasted is best for maximum crunch)
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for the whipped cream)
Optional Fruit Additions:
- 1 cup chopped apples (such as Gala or Fuji)
- 1 cup halved red seedless grape
Instructions:
- Step 1: Prep the Cranberries
- In a food processor, pulse the fresh cranberries until they are finely chopped, but not puréed. They should still have some texture.
- Transfer the chopped cranberries to a large bowl. Stir in the granulated white sugar.
- Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 3 hours or preferably overnight. This step draws out the juices from the cranberries and softens their tartness.
- Step 2: Combine the Fruit and Crunch
- After the cranberry mixture has chilled, add the well-drained crushed pineapple, miniature marshmallows, and chopped pecans or walnuts to the bowl.
- Optional: Stir in the chopped apples and grapes, if using. Mix all ingredients gently to combine.
- Step 3: Make the Whipped Cream
- In a separate, chilled bowl, pour in the heavy whipping cream and powdered sugar.
- Using an electric mixer, whip the cream until stiff peaks form.
- Step 4: Fold and Chill
- Using a rubber spatula, gently fold the whipped cream into the cranberry-fruit mixture. Be careful not to deflate the cream; mix until just combined and evenly pink.
- Spoon the salad mixture into a 9×13-inch or similarly sized Pyrex-style glass baking dish for a classic presentation.
- Cover and chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours before serving. This allows the flavors to fully meld and the salad to set, giving you the best Cranberry Crunch.
5. Holiday Dessert Recipe | Fudgy Chocolate Dump Cake

Photo inspo by RichandDelish
High-Reward, Low-Effort Recipe. “Dump cakes” and other shortcut desserts that deliver an intensely rich, fudgy result are wildly popular. This recipe promises decadence with minimal prep. I’m much more of a cook than a baker, and truthfully, chocolate isn’t really my thing. I’m a Pumpkin Pie person myself. However, I recognize that the fudge recipe is a massive favorite for most people. If you’re looking to introduce some delicious, untraditional dishes to your Christmas or holiday table, these recipes (especially the popular fudge) really caught my eye.
Key Ingredients:
- 1 box Chocolate Cake Mix.
- 1 box Chocolate Pudding Mix.
- 1/2 cup Melted Butter.
- Milk or Cream (quantity varies by recipe).
- Chocolate Chips (for triple chocolate intensity).
An incredibly rich, dense, and moist chocolate cake that is simple to prepare by literally “dumping” the ingredients into a pan. Best served warm with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream.
Instructions:
- Prep the Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F 175°C. Grease and flour a 9 x 13 -inch baking pan.
- The Dump: In a large bowl, “dump” in the entire box of Chocolate Cake Mix and the entire box of Chocolate Pudding Mix. Use a whisk to combine them well.
- Liquids: Add the Melted Butter and the specified amount of Milk or Cream (refer to your specific cake/pudding box for liquid amounts, or start with 1 cup and add until a thick batter forms). Mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Chocolate Boost: Stir in the Chocolate Chips.
- Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 30–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist, fudgy crumbs (not raw batter).
- Serve: Let the cake cool slightly. This dessert is best served warm, topped with a large scoop of vanilla bean ice cream or fresh whipped cream.
