Texas Travel | Houston Livestock Show + Rodeo 2023

It’s Rodeo season here in Houston. One of the city’s largest and longest-lasting events that has Texans geared up and people traveling from all over the world to attend. Below I have some major highlights and tips for visiting the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo!

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo promote agriculture by hosting an annual, family-friendly experience that educates and entertains the public, supports Texas youth, showcases Western heritage and provides year-round educational support within the community. Since its beginning in 1932, the Rodeo has committed more than $575 million to the youth of Texas and education. The 2023 Rodeo is scheduled for Feb. 28 – March 19. The 2023 World’s Championship Bar-B-Que Contest, presented by Cotton Holdings, is scheduled for Feb. 23 – 25. The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is the place to be for foodies and carnie food lovers! Stop by Biggy’s and try their Hot Nashville Cheeto Chicken Sandwich or on a Stick and Capt’n Crunch Chicken sandwich…DELISH! At the Corn Shack, you will find Corn on Cob, Corn in a Cup, Flaming Hot Cheetos & Cheese Corn in Cup and Cob, Street Corn, and their latest addition to the menu RAMEN CORN IN A CUP! This I have not tried, yet – but if you do – report back to SheShe with your opinion! Hot Cheetos and Cap’n’Crunch seem to be big on the trends list for food here!

Rides

I am not a HUGE fan of heights but I have ventured through the Carnival grounds MANY of times and have made lots of fun memories with those I love! The Carnival grounds are very family-friendly featuring rides for all ages. The Flying Dutchmen will ascend riders to a height of over 60 feet and free-fall back to
the platform – talk about an adrenaline rush! Get the birds-eye view from the top of the La Grande Wheel XL which overlooks Downtown Houston! I love the Ferris wheel at night!

NEW CARNIVAL RIDES

Raptor Coaster:  Get ready for a roar of a ride! Spectacular high speed thrill roller coaster with extreme inversions, sharp bends, twists & turns! Its fantastic Jurassic theme is sure to please!

Sea Ray: Ahoy Matey, all aboard – it’s swinging time! This spectacular new pirate themed ship swinger is a memorable ride that families can enjoy together with its fantastic smooth swinging motion. It is fun for the whole family!
