Mother’s Day has become a day of reflection for me.
My mom passed away eight years ago, and while time softens some things, it never really takes away the longing for one more conversation, one more shopping trip, one more beach day together. She had a wisdom and warmth that made people feel safe and loved. We shared simple joys — working puzzles, laughing over little things, and spending time near the water. Those memories have become treasures I carry with me daily.
I never had children of my own, but love has still found its way into my life in beautiful forms. My sweet dogs, Dexter and Miss Pippa, have brought joy, comfort, companionship, and unconditional love into every day. Being a dog mom may look different, but the nurturing and connection are very real. Pippa gave me some sweet Mother’s Day love this morning. Just the best!
And as a stepmom, I’ve learned that family relationships can sometimes be complicated and imperfect. But I still believe love, kindness, and grace matter.
This Mother’s Day, I want to celebrate every woman who loves and cares for others — whether as a mom, stepmom, grandmother, dog mom, mentor, caregiver, or simply someone with a nurturing heart.
Motherhood doesn’t always look the same, but love is what ties it all together.
